Sport fishing

The Monsummano area offers various possibilities for sport fishing enthusiasts, with both artificial and natural baits.

The crowning glory of the Monsummano Terme area is surely Borghese Lake, located along Via del Fossetto. Managed by the Italian Federation of Sport Fishing and Underwater Activities (FIPSAS), one can go coarse fishing and carp fishing at this marvelous facility all year long. Several events, even national ones, are held there every season, attracting sportsmen from all over Italy. A FIPSAS membership is required to fish at this facility.

Alternatively, excellent fishing can also be found in the channels and streams of the Monsummano part of the Fucecchio Marshes. Various fish species, including pike, black bass, tench, and big channel catfish, can be caught using either artificial or natural baits.

Finally, many wonderful mountain streams (Lima, Limentra di Sambuca, Limentra di Lentula, etc.) are easily reachable in less than an hour from Monsummano, and are filled with wild brown trout that can be fished using flies, spinning lures, and natural baits.
